Inn & Keepers
Meet the Innkeepers
We dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast for over a decade but thought that it would not be possible until much later in life. Then a good friend counseled Matt “not to wait until you retire to live your dreams.” That advice, coupled with other favorable life circumstances, inspired us to pursue our dream. Our search led us to The Inn at Onancock and Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
We moved from the north shore of Boston where we both served as nonprofit executives. We each have high-level professional skills, but also possess true servants’ hearts. Our goal now is to use our personal gifts, our professional experience, and our love for people to create a warm, welcoming experience for our guests.
A warm and thoughtful host and an avid cook and gardener, Kim’s passion for good food and her gift for hospitality nourish not just the body, but also the mind and spirit of all who enter our home. Matt serves as Onancock’s Town Manager and also volunteers for several other boards and nonprofit organizations. His quick wit and dry sense of humor keep family and friends entertained (at least he thinks so!). We both love to be on the water, fishing or just exploring the beauty of the area by boat, kayak, or paddle board. We will lavish care and attention to detail on every aspect of your visit.
In June of 2017, we added Dante to our family. A pure-bred German Shepherd, he tips the scales at a modest 100 pounds yet his soft heart and calm demeanor make him a handsome and gentle companion. He loves to announce guests’ arrival, join Wine Down Hour (when invited) and see who he can entice into a game of chase with his favored stuffed animal or squeaky toy.
This is our home and we gladly open it to you. Our purpose is to make every effort to support you in making this time away exactly what you need it to be: a romantic getaway, an escape from your frenetic pace of life, an exploration of a not-so-far-away quaint seaside community, or a fun and activity-filled excursion.
We look forward to meeting you and to helping make your trip all that you need it to be.
Many thanks and safe travels,
Kim and Matt (and Dante)
